His moves to start a Major League Franchise in the US precluded him from being part of the original takeover of Salford in 2014. But, last week Mr. Beckham was back with a bang as he bought 10% of Salford City FC of Singapore billionaire Peter Lim and in the process making the Class of 92 majority shareholders, with both the Neville’s, Butt, Scholes and Giggs owning 10% each.

Beckham who has recently started off his own club; Inter Miami, will be visiting Salford over the next two or three weeks to attend a game.

“It’s a special group of people so to now be part of this incredible team is exciting. We all have ambitions, we all have goals and you have to have big ones to reach for the sky,” Beckham said. “Salford is where I grew up really so I’ve got such fond memories and when all of us are sat watching our team will be a proud moment.”

Salford are currently hunting for their fourth promotion in five seasons and sitting pretty in 3rd place, just a point behind Leyton Orient in the National League. If they can achieve promotion this season they will be looking at league football, a first in Salford’s history.
